Mrs. Indecisive

Husband says I'm indecisive. Throw pregnancy in the mix and I can be quite the crazy. I can't tell you how many things I've purchased and returned because I didn't like them once I got them home.  I personally don't see anything wrong with it... but it drives Adam nuts!

Husband came home on Friday from work to find me drooling over the gorgeous curtains I found at JCP. I had to drive to 2 stores, but found 4/6 of the last panels in existence evidently! AND, they were on clearance for $15 per panel! Also, during my late night blog/internet surfing session I found the most lovely bedroom set thanks to Craig and his list! I mean... we werent really in the market for furniture for our spare bedroom or anything... because you know... were having a BABY that needs a nursery... but I just had to inquire about the set and it was still available. It was only a matter of convincing husband that we should move on the furniture purchase. That is the good news...

The bad/inconvienent news was that the grey wall color did not look good with my new curtain loves.  I knew we would need to change the color scheme of the room to make them work. We painted the room grey over a year ago so it wasn't like I was wanting to repaint what we had already done. Also, I had done some measuring and was pretty sure the new bedroom furniture was going to fit better in our nursery... which meant we would need to switch the rooms. I knew Adam would be thrilled to learn of all of these findings... and he was! (insert sarcastic voice)

Here was the color scheme we were going with before "the changes."

I loved the idea of having a "sophisticated nursery," but it just wasn't coming together like I wanted. The pink rosette fabric of the pillow was no where to be found and I wanted to make a bedskirt out of it. The blue lattice fabric is actually a curtain from Target. The pink/cream minky blanket was a gift from my MIL and I adore it. It actually ended up providing a lot of inspiration for the "new nursery." Once I found the curtains at JCP, I decided to go for more of a classic, traditional nursery. I still love the white, Jenny Lind crib, and our Babies R Us dresser (which FINALLY came in!!) So basically, we hadn't really done much except purchase furniture and a few fabric samples which were all returnable.

So... after a little convincing, my sweet husband agreed to spend our three day weekend redoing not one, but TWO rooms in our home. We picked up the Craiglist bedroom furniture on Sunday, with the help of brother, Lee. Then moved everything from one room to the other. Then, we taped off the nursery and picked up the paint for the nursery first thing Monday morning (Labor Day.) The room is small so it didnt take long to paint. This is the color we went with...

It's Sherwin Williams Romance. It's the perfect amount of pink and khaki- which is exactly what I wanted.

I'll share more nursery pics once we have a few more things done. I'm still deciding on bedding and have a lot of accessorizing to do! The glider did come today and the shelving should be in this week.
I've had several people make comments and act surprised when I say my nursery isn't done and I'm 34 weeks pregnant. I'm not too stressed about it and I'm enjoying taking my time with it. If baby girl decides to make an early appearance, it may not be quite done, but she has a place to sleep, plenty of diapers, and and mommy and daddy that already adore her... so she will be fine. I just know that what I dont finish before she gets here may never get finished so I really am trying to kick it in gear.

As for the spare bedroom, here's a pic of it...
This is the four poster, but we also got the dresser and a side table. The furniture is Bombay Company and the set is still available... the bed alone is $1,500 new! We payed $300 for the set and I think it was worth every penny. Its beautiful and very well made.  We are not making any other updates to this room right now but after the first of the year I might change out paint and bedding.

In addition to our decorating projects, we attended the first Hog game of the season against Jacksonville State. Adam's dad snagged 4 indoor club seats which was awesome for this big ole pregnant girl. It was really hot and humid and I don't think I could have sat on the bleacher seating at the TOP of the stadium where we were going to sit. We had a great time and the Hogs pulled off the first WIN of the season. I enjoyed it even more sitting in a comfy seat in the air conditioning! We decided not to buy season tickets this year and party at home when we cant find tickets. And again... we have a BABY coming so I think we will be glad later to just hang out on home on the weekends and watch the games together.

To end the weekend we had the Green's and the Huddleston's and Lee over for a hotdog cookout. It was a busy weekend, but it was a fun time to spend together and ended perfectly with a night with friends. I'm thankful for a 3 day weekend and for a husband that puts up with my ever changing mind!

My Baby's Abode... or lack there of

As I type this post... its is currently 1:34 in the morning and I am sitting in my bath. If this post doesn't finish and I'm found dead in the morning... it is likely from electrical shock. (I did remove the charger so if my laptop falls in the bath I surely have just a wet laptop and not the aforementioned tragedy.)

Anywhoo... I'm having a particularly difficult time sleeping tonight. Sleep really hasnt been much of an issue but I am guilty of "nesting" a little too close to bedtime tonight and my mind will NOT rest. It is currently thinking of how my sweet baby girl will not have a beautiful finished nursery before she arrives at my current rate. Because her mother has a bit of a decision- making problem... the "nursery" is nothing more than a crib, painted walls, and a heap of fabric on the floor. There is a dresser, but it's damaged and we've been waiting for 3 weeks for the replacement. (So help Toys R Us if that dresser isn't in tomorrow like they promised. :) )

This is the picture that I fell in love with the moment I found out I was pregnant. Because we toyed with the idea of not finding out the gender, I loved the idea of a neutral pallet. I also knew that I didn't want something "babyish" and would rather have a classy, more mature room that I could enjoy. The idea of walking into a room painted with hot pink walls did not interest me.
I just adore this design from awelldressedhome.com

I decided to use the front bedroom since the walls were already painted grey, and ordered a very similar crib to this one.  I feel like a rockstar that I scored a "cheaper" version for less than $150 on Overstock! I'll share a complete list of all of my findings and cost when I put up final pics (if there ever are any, ha!) Next I found a dresser at Babies R Us. It was a great price and overall is very well made except for the aforementioned ding in the top. It's dark wood like in the picture. I knew I did not want a "matchy" room like I am guilty of doing a lot of times... but rather a "designer- like" contrast. You know.. because I'm a designer.

Annnnd thats pretty much where it stopped for several weeks. I have had the hardest time finding fabric for bedding and curtains. I found curtains at Target that I liked, not loved, and some pretty satin fabric for a bed skirt that my friend Nicole is going to sew. I really loved the bed skirt fabric, but unfortunately I fell in love with a sample that is no where to be found. I ordered what I thought was the fabric online last week, but the shade is all wrong. The fabric stores here both said they could order... but can't tell me when it would be in... they said it could be a few days, weeks, or months. REAL helpful since my baby will be here in approximately 7 weeks or less.

So... while my wondering mind was perusing the internets tonight/this morning... I hopped on over to JC Penny online. I'm kind of a snob when it comes to the good ole JCP... yet everytime I go in there I find something wonderful... like these gorgeous curtains...
 oh mylanta.

It's hard to see in the first 2 pictures, but these curtains have an ikat pattern to them that is better seen in the third picture that has darker fabric. This is exactly what I had in mind from the beginning and couldn't find fabric or pre-made curtains of the like anywhere! Of course I can't figure out how to purchase these online the website is being weird so I'm going to have to head there first thing in the am to pick these dudes up. If they have them and they work like I think they will then I will have this nursery finished lickety split.

And if I don't... I do realize that my Caroline doesn't really care about her nursery and will never know if it is "finished" or not. She's got a bed, diapers, and 2 parents that love her an unfathomable amount already.  That is more than many babies have and I know far more important than some silly curtains.

Here's hoping I can get some sleep tonight!

Fayetteville Shower

I can hardly believe we just had our first baby shower! It was perfect in every way and I am so overwhelmed with gratitude for all the girls did for it and everyone that came.

The shower was a "couples shower" made up of people that Adam works with and our small group.  Sarah was kind enough to host it at her house on a Saturday night.  The decorations was seriously over the top and SO cute!
 Diaper cake
Prayer cards- I love this and I'm so thankful people are already praying for us!
My favorite part... a BOW bar!! Each guest designed their own headband for Caroline.
 Love it!
 tissue paper balls
The outside tables were decorated with her monogram and spray roses.
Picture board of mine and Adam's baby pics
Delicious cupcakes with "C" toppers
Ally and I... we're expecting just 2 weeks apart! I can't wait for Palmer and Caroline to meet!
The hostesses and I. 2 were unable to make it.
Ally, Jennifer, Amanda, Nicole, me, Sarah, Kelli, Maggie, and Tiffany

Sherri, me, and mom
I was so thankful our parents were able to come as well. It was such a special weekend! Caroline is one blessed girl!

fun family vaca 2012... destin fl

On Saturday we left for Destin. We're here for a week and today is Tuesday... its been glorious! I love sleeping in and that my hardest decision every day is choosing between the beach or the pool!  Being pregnant at the beach is a little different... it means not being in the sun for one thing. Today I literally didnt sit in the sun for 1 minute. I sat under a tent (for about 4 hours) and lathered on sunscreen. I still managed to get a little red. The only thing I can think is that the walk there and back is what did it.  My skin is extremely sensitive which is something Im not used to. I used to love lying in the sun for hours and coming home looking like a little Indian.  Also, being preg means I get to skimp on carrying beach gear and eat what I want without feeling too bad about it. :)

Last night we went to dinner at Louisiana Lagniappe. It. Was. Delish!  I had Pecan Grouper and it did not disappoint. I have literally been researching places to eat for a week. For me, eating good food is one my favorite parts of vacation. On Saturday night we ate a place that was pretty expensive for not so great food. That to me is a huge disappointment. (For the record- I did not pick that place!) I cooked tonight and tomorrow night we're having a shrimp boil here.  We plan to eat out a couple more times too. We also ate Krystal burger on the way down. My stomach still hurts- its pretty much the grossest thing ever (also not my food choice.) Anything attached to a gas station should be off limits for obvious reasons.

Husband and I after dinner Monday night.
After dinner we headed to the go kart track. The boys raced and husband got his booty kicked by Uncle Ted and Lee.
But then... he raced again by himself and started in last place and finished first. He may or may not have been racing some 8-10 year old boys. We gave him a hard time!

We have a great house with plenty of room. We have a view of the bay and are walking distance to the beach. Our little neighborhood has a pool which is nice. Some more pics...
Adam getting burried in the sand.
My view of my toes. :)
Dad instructing Ted and Adam how to build a sand castle.
 Me and brudder.
26 weeks pregnant. This view is on our back deck at sunset.

24 weeks and the beach!

22 weeks

I know I said I wouldn't post every week but I could tell a big difference between 22 and 24 weeks so I wanted to post a picture. This is me at 22 weeks, and I had my last OB appointment Monday at 25 weeks. I have now gained 20 lbs. The thought of that kind of makes me sick but I'm trying not to make such a big deal about it. I've gained more than I had hoped to at this point but I'm eating when I'm hungry and still exercising regularly. I'm not dieting or restricting calories by any means- I'm just making sure to eat plenty of all of my food groups each day... including the occasional brownie or cookie. :) I feel great which is most important and my doctor (who I love) says she's not worried about my weight gain at all and that I'm right on track. I am feeling a little more tired than usual, but that is probably due to the 100 degree weather we have been having!  Work has been pretty busy lately too which adds to the tiredness.

I did get a call from the doctor today telling me that while my glucose test came back perfectly normal, I am iron deficient. I had already been taking an iron supplement since my prenatal didn't have any. She had me up the dosage and will check my iron again at my next appointment. This may explain the nose bleeds!

We leave for vacation to Navarre Beach, FL on Saturday and I can hardly contain my excitement! We went there a couple of times when I was a kid and I haven't been to northeast FL in years. Adam and I are going with my parents, brother, and my dad's brother for a whole week.  My grandmother was also supposed to go but backed out because she hasn't been feeling well. I will miss her not being there but I am looking forward to getting away for a bit. I'm going to try my hardest to put work away for a whole week and just relax. I guess this is our "baby moon" as well so I know I need to enjoy this last vacation without a little one running around!

St. Jude Classic

It's been a busy weekend! We had Meme's birthday party Friday night, then headed to Memphis early Saturday morning for the St. Jude Classic. Mom works for FedEx and got us few tickets to the executive cabana which was pretty neat! There was all you can eat food all day and unlimited air conditioning! A pregnant woman's dream!

Mom and I

The whole fam. Adam played in a golf tourny with his boss at the last minute and couldn't come with us.   We missed him but were excited that he WON the golf tournament they played in. He had a great time and I hope we can all go to The St. Jude Classic together next year... I bet I know a good babysitter!
I wouldn't say I'm an avid golf fan by any means but I do watch a lot with husband (err nap while he watches)  Rory McIlroy is one of his favs right now and it was neat to see him in such close proximity.
While I had parked my pregnant self on a bench waiting for the shuttle to take us back to the hotel, out walks Rory! Right in front of me! I was the first one to see him walk out of a back door in the club house and ran right up to him to snap a pic and get an autograph. I was a little starstruck! He probably didn't appreciate it much since he had been leading all weekend only to lose the lead on the last few holes. But then again, he IS the number 2 golfer in the world and better get used to crazy ladies stopping him for a photo op.
My souvenir for husband.

Happy 80th Birthday Meme!

My sweet grandmother turned 80 on June 7th. For her birthday, my aunt Lisa took her to New York City! They were there over her birthday and the Friday after we had a surprise birthday party for her with her closest friends and family.

The adorable cake! My cousin knows a couple that makes/decorates cakes as their ministry. The most you ever pay is $30 and they accept donations on top of that. So neat! We of course had a NYC themed bday party!

Meme being surprised!

Meme with my cousin Tiffany and I.

I hope I am as beautiful as my Meme one day. She is one of my favorite people. She is also the only living grandparent I have- she is one of my treasures!

Several people from our "old" church at Mablevale came to party. We set up a photo booth and everyone had a pretty good time dressing up and being silly.

Especially these two. Mr. Bob and Mr. Bill. Two of the funniest guys you'll ever meet. I've known them since I can remember.
Meme with 3 of her kids... sadly uncle Steve had to work! We missed him!
Meme with all of her grandchildren and great grands. (sadly Adam couldn't make it.) This time next year she will have another great grand to add to this picture!

I hope you had a great birthday, Meme! We enjoyed celebrating with you and look forward to many more birthdays!
