a secret

Today we found out the gender of our baby. We finally decided yesterday that if she could tell today, we would find out. If there was any doubt- that we wouldn't find out until baby Fite arrived in October! Our ultrasound tech said she was 99% sure! We're elated and can't wait to share with our friends and family this weekend.

I should have thought things through a little better... we have to go SIX days keeping this secret to ourselves! Keeping the pregnancy a secret wasn't hard for me... we didn't tell ANYONE until almost 7 weeks. But this... this is hard! We're just so excited!

The doctor's appointment went great and the heartbeat was 152 (perfection!) I did some lab work too. The next appointment will be my "official" ultrasound appointment when Dr. H will look closely at all of the structures of our baby. I had actually lost a pound this time... I think this was a mistake! I treated my baby to some Rick's for an afternoon snack for cooperating for the ultrasound tech so I'm sure that pound got added back by evening. :)

I'll post Sunday evening after our reveal parties over the weekend. We're having lunch at my mom and dad's Saturday where we will tell our parents and grandparents- then Sunday night we're having a few friends over for dessert to tell them. I can't wait! I'll hopefully get some pictures up from our trip.... here's one of my favorites from the week.
Adam overlooking #9 on Pebble Beach. I know his back is turned... but that's because I could barely get him to look at the camera during his golf round! He was so excited to play Pebble and I had a blast watching him. Isn't that view breathtaking? I could most definitely get used to that!

15 weeks

How Far Along: 15 weeks
Size of baby: baby is the size of a navel orange, 4 inches long and 2.5 ounces
Gender: ? (We can find out Monday... still haven't made a decision!)
Maternity Clothes: No... I don't think it will be long. Jeans are pretty uncomfortable- I've been sticking to dresses and leggings.
Weight gain: 2 pounds (I think when we go to the doctor next week I'll be in for it. I feel huge.
Movement: none
Sleep: plenty of it... we've been doing TONS of walking and activities so I've been super tired at the end of the day.
Symptoms: Round ligament pain, getting full fast (something I dont enjoy since I have an excuse to eat all of this delicious food this week!)
Cravings: none really...
Best moment this week: There were so many! We had a great vacation... this picture was taken at Big Sur- located along Hwy 1 on our way from Monterey to LA. The views were breathtaking! If I had to narrow down to one moment... it was watching Adam tee off at Pebble Beach on Tuesday. His excitement was priceless!

14 weeks

We just returned from our trip to Southern California! We had a great time and I can't wait to post about all of our adventures! I did want to go ahead and share my 14 week picture taken in San Francisco.

How Far Along: 14 weeks
Size of baby: baby is the size of a lemon, 3.4 inches and 1.5 oz
Gender: ? (We can find out April 30th but haven't decided just yet if we're going to!)
Maternity Clothes: no. I wore the bella band once and it was not a good experience. My jeans are starting to fit a little tighter this week... though that could also be from all of the vacation food, ha! I ordered a few maternity things off- line last week before we left so I've got some things on hand when the time comes.
Weight gain: 2 pounds
Movement: none
Sleep: Sleeping well still
Symptoms: Round ligament pains. Nothing too bad.
Cravings: Sushi! I finally had some last night... don't worry the whole thing was nice and FRIED!
Best moment this week: Traveling in San Francisco with Adam. If I had to pin point a moment it would be when this picture was taken at the Marin Headlands overlooking the Golden Gate bridge and the city of San Francisco. It was beautiful and neat to think that our little baby was right there with us.

shower power

On Friday we headed to Benton for a weekend of baby showers that I was hosting. We left early on Friday to make it to Saline County's gem... Larry's Pizza. If you are not familiar... please work that one into your bucket list. I had been craving it for months but they only have the "Piping Hot Pizza Parade" on Friday nights and we never make it in time... but this time... we did. And it was delicious. I will never reveal how many pieces of pizza I ate or how sick I was after. I plan to do a fun post soon about all of the things I miss/love about our "home town." Larry's will be near the top of the list!

Anywho... on Saturday I got up early to set up for the first of 2 showers I helped host. This one was at my home church for Kori and baby Anabella Grace. It was fun to get together with "the fab 5" and we managed to throw a pretty amazing shower. Thank goodness for Pinterest... none of us used to have a crafty bone in our bodies! Here are a few pictures from the shower.
J made the cake and do-nut tree. Both were awesome! The shower was Saturday morning so we had a brunch theme with the colors of Kori's nursery- grey, pink, and black. We also had quiche, fruit, and a biscuit bar.
 The spread.
The fab 5... Thick as thieves since 6th grade!
 Adorable wreath made by B.
The cute diaper bag that us girls got for K.
 Meg and I.
Jessica asked us to be bridesmaids at the end of the shower. She made really cute invites and everything! Of course we all said yes!
Kate, me, and mom. Isn't my mom pretty?

On Sunday, I hosted shower #2 for my SIL, Kellie. Kellie is expecting her third child, a little girl in May. Kellie lives in Southeast Asia so we had the first ever "Skype baby Shower!" Kel got up at 3 am her time to join us via skype so she was able to visit with her guests and watch her mom open all of the gifts. It was a great time.
The table. Since Baby Girl Turner doesn't yet have a name we just went with a bright, springy decor.
I hosted the shower with 2 of Kellie's cousins, Rebecca and Nikki.
Rebecca got the cake and it was one of the best I've had! I wish this lady lived in NWA!
Some shower guests "skyping" with Kellie.
Adam and Joodge served as parking attendants. We had quite the turnout so their help was appreciated!

Sunday also happened to be my birthday! I wouldn't have spent it any other way. I loved being surrounded by my friends and family all weekend. My only stipulation was Larry's pizza and that definitely came true!

Gender: ?

Best moment this week: Seeing my besties and returning to my "home town" for the first time since being pregnant. It was fun.

Happy 30th Birthday, Adam!

On April 9th Adam turned THIRTY! We celebrated with a few friends at Gusano's pizza the night of his birthday. We had a golf themed birthday cake from Ricks.  The grand plan was to surprise Adam the night of his birthday with his big birthday gift... a round of golf at Pebble Beach! The little stinker checked the bank account (I say he was snooping) and ruined the surprise! He was still extremely excited and we're looking forward to our week long vacation down the So. Cal coast in a couple of weeks.

Happy Birthday, Adam! I love you very much!
 The Birthday Boy
Brody really liked the golf cart cake... he helped Adam blow out his candles
Adam with his buddy, P- Payne
The birthday boy and I.

We had a great night with some of our closest friends! I'm excited about our upcoming vacation... though probably not as excited as Adam is about his round of golf!

He is Risen!

We've made a tradition of staying "home" for Easter weekend. Since we go home for every other holiday its nice to host Easter at our house. Adam's parents have come up the last 2 years and we always have a good time when they come to town. Mom and dad have yet to make it up for Easter- but I'm working on them for next year. With a grand baby on the way I doubt I have to beg any longer. :)

On Saturday the girls did some shopping and got pedicures while the boys played golf. We had lunch at Mermaids (my fav!) and I cooked dinner Saturday night. I cooked a yummy cheesy chicken lasagna recipe and strawberry cream pie out of my Southern Living Cookbook.

Adam got his own dessert- mini bday cake from Ricks since he's crazy and wont eat strawberries!
My pretty table setting- Easter has been the only time in 2 years I have ever used my china!

On Sunday we went to church together and I taught "Cross Kidz" at one of our church's SIX services! We had over 3,000 people at the Fayetteville campus alone. Church is certainly not about attendance, but I sure love the fact that that many people heard the gospel of Jesus Christ on this day and many accepted his grace and forgiveness for the first time! There were about 10 4th and 5th graders that gave their life to Christ during the hour we volunteered. It was awesome. I was really convicted to be that excited about the story of Christ and His resurrection EVERY Sunday- and not just Easter.
 Joodge and Baba.
Adam and I

After church, we of course ATE. (We love to eat and so do my in laws. :) ) We had brunch at Green House Grill- another one of my favorite eateries in town.

After Joodge and Baba went home, we went home to help Ryan and Sarah with their play gym for Payne.  I had the best job- entertaining P. We took Gus on a walk where we saw lots of caterpillars.
P
I sure love that sweet boy. I pray our baby is a sweet and affectionate as he.

Happy Easter, everyone!

He's Alive!

12 weeks

This week I am 12 weeks pregnant! We went for our first actual appointment at the end of March and our doctor (whom I adore) let us take a sneak peak at our sweet angel. I have felt amazing. Seriously. 2 weeks at most of nausea/exhaustion that went away after week 9. I did have some pretty terrible headaches, similar to the ones I experienced before Christmas, but Dr. H suggested some vitamins that seemed to pretty much nip everything in the bud. I feel so blessed. I can't believe that we're going to have a baby!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 12 weeks
Size of baby: the size of a plum, 2.1 inches and .49 oz
Gender: ?
Maternity Clothes: no
Weight gain: 2 pounds
Movement: no... on the ultrasound baby F was snoozing away
Sleep: Definately getting plenty of it. I'm usually a night owl but it's not uncommon for me to go to bed at 8:30 these days. :)
Symptoms: I feel great. Some headaches but they seem to go away with rest and Tylenol.
Cravings: bad food... fried stuff and Mexican. :) I have been walking and attending my classes at the gym almost every day so I figure its ok for a while.
Best moment this week: Telling work I was pregnant. I was really nervous about it but felt like a weight had been lifted once I did so. Everyone was excited for me and very encouraging. Also seeing our angel on the ultrasound... there is nothing like hearing that heartbeat and SEEING it to put me in awe of God's mercy and greatness.

And Baby Makes Three!

On Valentines day Adam and I were blessed to find out we are expecting a sweet little baby in October!  I had an inkling for a couple of weeks that I was pregnant, but the test didn't show a positive result until V-day. I woke up early and fixed Adam a big breakfast and left him "the results" next to his breakfast along with my home-made Valentine's Day card.

Adam almost didn't notice... he was more shocked that I cooked breakfast I think!
We sent a picture of Gus wearing a "big Brother" tshirt to our parents to make the announcement, we're all pretty excited!

We feel so blessed that the Lord has blessed us with the joy and responsibility of becoming parents. He is SO good and faithful.

"I  prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him."
